Marvel Studios has released the first trailer for "Captain America: Brave New World," showcasing Anthony Mackie as the new Captain America and introducing Red Hulk to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). The trailer culminates with a dramatic scene of Red Hulk catching Captain America's vibranium shield amidst the cherry blossoms of Washington, D.C.

The film continues the journey of Sam Wilson, portrayed by Mackie, who took on the mantle of Captain America after Chris Evans' Steve Rogers in the Disney+ series "The Falcon and the Winter Soldier" (2021). Mackie now headlines his own Captain America movie, bringing a fresh perspective to the iconic role.

The trailer also features a first look at Giancarlo Esposito in a mysterious villain role, added to the movie during recent reshoots. Esposito's character is shown wielding an automatic assault rifle, adding an element of intense action to the film.

In a significant cast change, Harrison Ford takes over the role of Thaddeus "Thunderbolt" Ross, previously played by the late William Hurt. Ross, now the President of the United States, tasks Sam Wilson with reconstituting the Avengers, but their mission is complicated by a sleeper-agent conspiracy.

In the comics, Thaddeus Ross becomes the Red Hulk due to his longstanding hatred of Bruce Banner. The MCU often adapts and reinterprets comic book storylines, suggesting potential surprises in the film.

Anthony Mackie shared his thoughts on the film's direction with Entertainment Weekly, saying, "It made more sense for it to be more of a grounded espionage action movie as opposed to aliens and airplanes coming through portals and s---. The opportunity for Sam to really establish himself as a true action star and Avenger comes with this movie."

"Captain America: Brave New World" also sees the return of Danny Ramirez as Joaquin Torres, who is expected to become the next Falcon. The trailer hints at this transformation, showing another individual wearing a Falcon flight suit alongside Mackie.

Additional cast members include Shira Haas as Ruth, a government official, and returning characters Liv Tyler and Tim Blake Nelson as Betty Ross and Samuel Sterns (The Leader) from 2008's "The Incredible Hulk." Xosha Roquemore also joins the cast in an undisclosed role.

Directed by Julius Onah, "Captain America: Brave New World" is set to release in theaters on February 14, 2025. The trailer promises an action-packed film that redefines the future of the Marvel Universe.
