Shaheen Afridi expecting first child
Pakistan's national cricket team fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi and his wife Ansha Afridi are anticipating the arrival of their first child.
Jason Gillespie, the head coach for Pakistan’s red-ball cricket team, confirmed that Afridi's wife is due to give birth in the coming days.
As a result, Afridi might miss the upcoming series against Bangladesh to spend time with his family.
Gillespie also announced that Shan Masood will take over as captain for the Test series, and he has recently met with Babar Azam in Lahore.
Afridi's potential absence comes as Pakistan prepares to face Bangladesh in a two-Test series scheduled for August
The Bangladesh cricket team is set to visit Pakistan in the third week of August for a two-Test series, which forms part of the World Test Championship.
The first Test will be held in Rawalpindi from August 21 to 25, with the second Test scheduled in Karachi from August 30 to September 3.
Previously, pacer Shaheen Afridi reportedly faced allegations of misconduct involving head coach Gary Kirsten and other support staff during both the Ireland-England tour and the T20 World Cup 2024.
The PCB chairman reportedly received complaints from coaches regarding disciplinary infractions and the overall conduct of players.
