The CW network is set to make history by airing the KCON LA 2024 M Countdown concert live on Sunday, July 28th, at 8 p.m. ET/PT. This marks the first time a K-pop music festival will be broadcast live on primetime television in the United States.
KCON, a three-day celebration of K-pop music and culture, will take place from July 26th to 28th at the LA Convention Center, Gilbert Lindsay Plaza, and Crypto.com Arena. The festival will feature various fan activities, live performances, and culminate with three nights of concerts produced by CJ ENM.
The live broadcast on The CW is a significant milestone for the K-pop community, showcasing the genre's growing popularity and global reach. Harry H.K. Shin, Head of Music Entertainment at CJ ENM, expressed his excitement about the partnership, calling it a "testament to the incredible community of K-pop fans who have made these groups global sensations."
KCON, which started as a single-day event in 2012, has expanded into a global platform, reaching fans in Hong Kong, Japan, and soon, Germany. The M Countdown concert, hosted by Rowoon, Jeon Somi, and Kim Soo Hyun, will feature performances by I-Land 2, Jeon Somi, NCT 127, Stayc, Zerobaseone, and Zico.
Other artists set to appear throughout the festival weekend include Bibi, Boynextdoor, Ini, Kep1er, P1Harmony, Taemin, Jo Yuri, NMixx, TWS, Drippin, Apoki, Dxmon, Pow, Craxy, and many more.
