A book publisher who had gone missing from Nishter Colony in Lahore was found dead in Faisalabad.
His body was found in the Gogera branch near Jaranwala on Thursday. A spokesperson for Rescue 1122 said that on being informed about the corpse, a team was dispatched to the spot near Canal Bridge in Satiana, which fished out the body.
The deceased was later identified as Abdul Rehman Irfan, 65, who belonged to Chak 39GB in Satiana.
After post-mortem at the Jaranwala Tehsil Headquarters Hospital, the body was handed over to the heirs of the deceased.
The police collected forensic evidence and started an investigation.
Jaranwala SP Abid Zafar said the deceased was a resident of Lahore and had been missing since Wednesday.
An FIR of his abduction had been registered at a police station in Lahore. The official said the postmortem of the body had been completed and the cause of death would be ascertained in the light of the report.
Initial police investigation indicated that the location of Abdul Rehman before his death had been recorded in Lahore, Gojra, Khurrianwala, Faisalabad and Satiana, he said. The SP said the police were investigating the incident through scientific means.
