During a full-day meeting in the Iranian border town of Zahedan on Thursday, the Pak-Iran Joint Border Trade Committee deliberated on border concerns, the growth of bilateral trade, and improvements in immigration procedures and transportation.
The Pakistani delegation, led by Customs Collector Gwadar Irfan Javed, and the Iranian delegation, headed by Director General of Iran Industry Ministry and Trade Organization Iraj Hasanpour, engaged in productive discussions on various trade and transport issues.
Notable attendees from Pakistan included Deputy Commissioner Chaghi, Dr. Atiqur Rehman Shahwani, Assistant Haji Yaqub Yasin Murtaza, Collector Taftan, Secretary Industry Noor Ahmad Perkani, Assistant Commissioner Washik, Customs officials, and Railway officials.
The meeting covered crucial topics such as bilateral trade, transport, fisheries, and minerals. A significant outcome was the decision to organize an exhibition showcasing Pakistani good to increase exports to Iran and attract buyers from the neighboring country.
Additionally, the Pakistani delegation requested improved infrastructure at the Mashkeel crossing point, including gas, electricity, internet, and telephone services.
The Iranian leadership committed to visiting the site and compiling a report.
