SHO suspended over negligence related to tragic death of 7-year-old

A case has been registered against unidentified individuals following the traffic death of seven-year-old Muntaha Adeel, who was killed when a kite string slit her throat in the limits of Khanna police station on Tuesday. SHO Zahid Hussain Shah has been suspended for negligence related to this incident.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi took notice of the incident, addressing the ongoing issue of kite-flying and the illegal sale of metal cords despite a ban. Later, the police conducted raids at 49 locations, resulting in the arrest of 24 individuals. The incident highlighted not only the police’s ineptitude but also the assistant commissioner’s negligence. If the police had enforced the district administration’s orders, the young girl’s life could have been saved.

In a separate incident on the same day, a 40-year-old woman, Riffat Shaheen, was found strangled to death in G-13 in the limits of Sumbul police station. The police declared the death a suicide based on her husband Nadeem’s statement, who claimed that she was suffering from depression and was undergoing treatment for her illness.

Additionally, unidentified men shot and killed 23-year-old Muhammad Umar in the limits of Shams Colony police station. The police said that the incident took place near Khalid Bin Waleed seminary. A case has been registered, and the police are investigating the matter.
