In preparation for Muharram, the district administration of Islamabad has imposed a ban on 27 religious scholars from various sects, prohibiting them from delivering sermons and speeches during the holy month.
The action has been taken based on the recommendations of the Islamabad police.
Prominent scholars on the list include Maulana Abdul Aziz, Maulana Abdul Razaq, Qari Waseem Abbasi, and Rizwan Saifi. Additionally, Allama Shafa Najafi, Allama Tahir Ashraf, Maulana Muhammad Ilyas, and Abdul Khaliq.

The administration's decision aims to maintain peace and security during Muharram, a period that often sees heightened religious activities and gatherings.
The preparations also incorporate Rawalpindi district administration enforcement and an immediate ban under Section 144 on storing building materials and parking cars, motorcycles, and push carts along the routes of Muharram mourning processions in the twin city.
Moreover, the interior ministry issued an order approving the deployment of the military on the request of all provincial governments, Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir, in maintaining law and order in the country during the holy month of Muharram.
