ITV newsreader Sascha Williams has announced her unexpected departure from the channel.

On Tuesday, she revealed her decision to leave, calling her time at ITV "one heck of a ride." The 44-year-old presenter also posted a series of photos on Instagram showcasing moments from her career.

Sascha said, "After 21 years (and by the look of it, about as many hairstyles) it’s time to bid farewell to ITV. It’s been one heck of a ride, working some of the absolute best in the business. Will miss them lots (Though probably not the 4am alarm)."

The newsreader began her career at ITV Anglia in 2003 as a production journalist on ITV News Anglia. After three years, she advanced to the role of on-screen reporter and presenter.

In 2009, she transitioned to freelance work, frequently appearing on Daybreak, ITV News, and ITV News London. Sascha is also recognised as a regular presenter for ITV News at 5:30 pm.

Good Morning Britain viewers will remember Sascha from her appearances on ITV News London, which airs during the morning show. She became a permanent ITV News staff member in 2013.

Fans of the broadcaster flooded Sascha with support as one commented, "You're brilliant. Good luck and very well done."

Another said, "Good luck - wishing you all the best on your next chapter - adventure, wherever and whatever it is, you'll absolutely slay! It Sascha."

"A real pleasure to have worked with you - good luck with the next adventure x," a third added.
