Indian cricket team former head coach Rahul Dravid has declined an additional monetary reward following the team's T20 World Cup triumph, opting instead for equal distribution of the prize money among all coaches.
According to Indian media reports, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced a cash reward of INR1.25 billion for the team, coaches, and support staff after their victory. Dravid was allocated INR50 million, while other coaches were to receive INR25 million each.
However, Dravid, known for his modest lifestyle, requested the BCCI to award him Rs25 million, the same amount given to the batting, bowling, and fielding coaches.
"I do not wish to receive more than my fellow coaches," Dravid told the BCCI. "We are all equally deserving of this reward."
The BCCI expressed respect for Dravid's sentiments and agreed to his request.
This is not the first time Dravid has made such a decision. In 2018, following India's Under-19 World Cup win, Dravid also insisted on equal distribution of prize money among the coaching staff.
