Rapper Lil Scoom89 shot dead in Chicago

Lil Scoom89, an 18-year-old rapper whose real name was Asyrion Hogan, was shot dead following a late night altercation in Chicago.

The young artist became a victim of gunfire in the Chatham neighbourhood on the South Side, at the intersection of 89th Place and Langley Avenue.

At approximately 11:50 PM on June 7, Lil Scoom89 and his 16-year-old friend were involved in a verbal altercation with another individual on the street. 

The conflict quickly escalated, resulting in gunfire. Lil Scoom89 was rushed to the University of Chicago Medical Center, but despite the best efforts of the medical team, his injuries proved fatal. 

The 16-year-old friend is expected to recover.

Chicago Police Department (CPD) officers spotted a suspect on foot with a gun and pursued him. During the chase, the suspect fired at the officers. A 10-1 emergency was called, leading to a significant police response from multiple districts, including CPD SWAT, but the suspect managed to escape.

The news of the shooting has shocked and saddened many of Lil Scoom89's fans and the community at large. Known for his raw lyrics and dynamic performances, Lil Scoom89 was beginning to make a significant impact on the Chicago rap scene. He had built a growing fan base and collaborated with other local artists, showcasing his versatility and dedication to music.
