Pakistani actress Zhalay Sarhadi recently compared social media to a 'strict desi mom' in response to the backlash over a promotional campaign for Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.
The campaign, which has been running for several days, praises Maryam Nawaz's achievements and has involved numerous social media influencers and renowned Pakistani celebrities such as Urwa Hocane, Sanam Saeed, Saba Qamar, Zhalay Sarhadi, and singer Aima Baig.
However, the campaign has not been well-received by the public, leading to widespread anger and calls for a boycott of the participating artists.
Reacting to the backlash, Zhalay Sarhadi posted an amusing message on her Instagram story, drawing a parallel between social media users and a strict 'desi mom.'
She wrote, "Social media is just like a desi mom. After a whole day of work, if you leave a glass on the table, you'll hear, 'Useless! You don't do anything.'"
Sarhadi highlighted that just as a desi mom criticises minor mistakes, social media users also harshly judge based on a single error.
