PCB chief hints at 'tough decisions' after poor T20 World Cup performance

Mohsin Naqvi says players will not receive NOCs for international leagues before Bangladesh Test series

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has indicated that tough decisions will be made following the cricket team's poor performance in the T20 World Cup.

Naqvi stated that those responsible for poor selection decisions will be held accountable.

He emphasised that only players performing well in domestic cricket will be considered for the national team, and those not playing domestically will not be selected again.

Addressing rumours about replacing captain Babar Azam, Naqvi mentioned that no such decision has been made yet.

He added that any decisions will be made after consultations with former cricketers and discussions within several committees, including those involving head coaches.

Naqvi also discussed the issuance of No Objection Certificates (NOCs) for players wanting to participate in leagues.

He clarified that players who have requested NOCs for leagues before the Test series will not receive them.

This decision impacts players like Babar Azam, Shaheen Shah Afridi, and Mohammad Rizwan, who had applied for NOCs for the Global T20 league.

The PCB chief insisted that only those meeting fitness standards would be awarded contracts.

Domestic and international players must pass fitness tests without exception.
