The Sindh High Court (SHC) has summoned responses from top officials, including the chief secretary and irrigation secretary, while hearing a petition seeking details of the preparedness of the provincial administration in anticipation of an above-normal rain forecast in the province.
Appearing before a two-member bench, headed by Justice Kausar Sultana Hussain, the petitioner's counsel Muhammad Khan argued that weatherman has predicted above-average rainfall during this monsoon season in the province.
Citing past experiences, he further stated that inadequate government strategies during the flood crises in 2010 and 2022 exacerbated hardships for the public.
He stated that comprehensive preparations by relevant departments are needed to mitigate potential risks.
The bench issued notices to the top provincial officials to give response until July 15.
