QUETTA: The victims of the twin suicide attacks in Quetta on Wednesday include a woman and her three young children, all of whom were under the age of eight.

The woman, identified as Farida Bibi had come to the provincial capital from Loralai for a medical check-up with her children, her brother and sister-in-law. The six of them were on their way to Sandeman Hospital in a rickshaw when a bomb went off near the Quetta Commissioner’s office on Anscamb Road, causing all six to sustain splinter wounds.

They were rushed to Civil Hospital where Farida Bibi and her children succumbed to their injuries, hospital sources said. Her body, and those of her children, has been dispatched to Loralai for burial. Farida’s brother Dawood and his wife were also critically injured and were taken to the Combined Military Hospital. “They did not have adequate facilities at Civil Hospital,” said Hafiz Majeed, a relative of the slain woman. The driver of the rickshaw was also badly injured.

100 people donate blood

Around 100 people showed up at Provincial Sandeman Hospital to donate blood for the victims of the attack, according to sources at the hospital.
