Amazon MGM Studios has unveiled the trailer for the upcoming action-comedy "Jackpot!," featuring a star-studded cast including Awkwafina, John Cena, and Simu Liu. The film is scheduled to premiere on Prime Video on August 15.
Set in the year 2030 in California, "Jackpot!" revolves around Katie (played by Awkwafina), a Los Angeles transplant and aspiring actor who unexpectedly wins a multi-billion dollar lottery prize. However, the catch is that others can legally kill her before sundown to claim the jackpot.
Facing a city full of pursuers, Katie teams up with Noel Cassidy (John Cena), an amateur lottery protection agent. Noel agrees to safeguard Katie until sundown in exchange for a share of the prize. Their efforts are complicated by rival agent Louis Lewis (Simu Liu), who runs L.A.'s largest lottery protection agency and also aims to secure Katie's commission.
The trailer showcases Katie and Noel's frantic attempts to evade their pursuers, set against the backdrop of Bonnie Tyler’s iconic song “Holding Out for a Hero.” The action-packed scenes include car chases, daring escapes, and confrontations with Louis Lewis and his team.
Directed by Paul Feig, known for "Bridesmaids" and "A Simple Favor," "Jackpot!" also features Ayden Mayeri, Machine Gun Kelly, Donald Elise Watkins, Sam Asghari, and Murray Hill in supporting roles. The screenplay is written by Rob Yescombe, with production handled by Roth/Kirschenbaum Films and Feigco Entertainment. Executive producers include Joe Roth, Jeff Kirschenbaum, Paul Feig, Laura Fischer, John Cena, Michelle Morrissey, Rob Yescombe, and Zack Roth.
