A man in Bahawalpur had his eyes gouged out during a brutal torture by at least five suspects who accused him of stealing a donkey cart.
The suspects tortured Sufian on Monday at village 13-Soling which falls within the jurisdiction of Baghdadul Jadid police station.
According to police and other sources, the victim, Sufian, has lost vision in one eye completely and the other eye was seriously damaged, along with torture scars on various parts of his body.
Following orders from District Police Officer (DPO) Asad Sarfraz, a police team was dispatched to the scene to arrest the culprits, while the victim was admitted to the emergency ward of Bahawalpur Victoria Hospital (BVH).
Reportedly, the motive behind the gruesome crime was a land dispute.
Police have arrested one suspect, Iqrar Hussain, out of the five suspects.
The registration of a first information report (FIR) against the remaining suspects was in process when the report was filed.
On June 20, a mob beat a man to death in Swat after accusing him of desecrating the Holy Quran. The police initially rescued him and took him to a police station in the area. However, the mob stormed the station and set it ablaze, injuring at least five policemen.
Graphic videos of the incident showed a frenzied mob dragging a naked and bloodied body through the streets, and then setting it on fire.

On April 12, a father of five was gunned down on Eidul Fitr in the locality of Karachi's Gulshan-e-Iqbal over resisting a robbery attempt.
The man, identified as Turab Hussain, was shot dead on Rashid Minhas Road near Gulshan Chowrangi. Police officials said he was returning home after withdrawing money from an ATM.
