WAPDA officials booked over minor boy’s death

Case filed under Section 322 of PPC amid protest

A case has been registered against several WAPDA officials on the complaint of the father of a boy who had died after being electrocuted.

The official nominated in the case include Executive Engineer Inamullah Khan, SDO Narendar Kumar, Line Superintendent Malik Amjad Bhatti, Linemen Muhammad Saeed and Muhammad Saleem, and Telephone Operator Muhammad Waris under Section 322 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) at the Saddar police station.

The action follows the complaint of Muhammad Aslam, the father of 11-year-old Waqarul Hasan, who had died after being electrocuted by a broken electric wire in Rajmirwala Ground.

Protesters, including locals from Rajmirwala, had blocked the Talagang Road for a short time and staged a demonstration.

The demonstration was called off after the intervention of the Mianwali police and administration.

The case against the officials has been registered on charges of negligence, which resulted in the death of the boy.

Meanwhile, the police also registered an FIR against the president of the district press club, Gul Sher Khan, for covering the protest.

The protest against negligence of the power supply company had been organised after the death of the boy because of electrocution.
