PESHAWAR:

A civil judge in Peshawar ordered on Monday for placing the names of six employees of the Peshawar University before an upcoming meeting of the selection board for considering their promotion to the next grade.

Civil Judge Shabina Noor took up the application of Gohar Rehman, Akhtar Amin, Dr Abdul Hameed, Dr Tahir Jan, Engineer Hasan Iqbal and Fasal Mahmood, all employees of the Peshawar University. Advocates Tariq Afghan and Sajid Afridi appeared in the court on behalf of the petitioners.

They counsel informed the court that the university advertised various posts for which the applicants also applied but a scrutiny committee did not place their names before the selection board despite meeting the qualification for the posts.

They said that two meetings of the selection board had been held after the advertisement but the applicants were not considered. On June 21, they said, the civil court had issued an order for placing their names before the selection board but the meeting was postponed for unknown reasons.

Now, a third meeting of the board was scheduled but again the names of the applicants were being kept out. The court accepted the plea and issued ordered for placing the names of the applicants before the selection board.
