RAWALPINDI:

The security of all sensitive installations in Rawalpindi Division has been beefed up to high alert status to counter potential backlash during Operation Azm-e-Istehkam against terrorists.

Additional security personnel have been deployed at key locations including Islamabad International Airport, Rawalpindi railway stations, and all bus depots, covering both internal and external routes.

Moreover, biometric devices have been installed at all checkpoints to monitor and identify suspicious individuals.

Sources revealed to The Express Tribune that all law enforcement agencies will collaborate closely to ensure the success of the operation against terrorists and their networks. Special measures have been implemented to address potential terrorist activities.

The security of sensitive installations across all districts of Rawalpindi Division has been intensified. The monitoring of all public places via CCTV cameras has been accelerated, and modern equipment is being utilised to enhance the surveillance of entry and exit points in Rawalpindi.

Law enforcement agencies have instructed Rawalpindi police to enhance the monitoring of all hotels in the city. The computerised entry of all individuals coming from other areas into hotels and restaurants has been mandated. Additionally, a special watch will be kept on traffic entering the cantonment areas. Surveillance of the entry gates and parking lots of Islamabad International Airport has been increased, and biometric devices will be used to check the details of suspicious persons. Night vision CCTV cameras have also been installed at all check posts along with the deployment of additional personnel.

The data will be accessed in conjunction with the excise department for immediate registration verification of suspect vehicles.

All public transport vehicles, including those at Peer Wadhai Bus Stand, Faizabad Bus Stand, and No 26 Chongi Bus Stop, are under continuous surveillance. Special checks of public transport vehicles entering Rawalpindi via the Motorway and GT Road will be conducted, with special measures implemented by the Punjab Highway Patrol Police and Motorway Police.

An integrated control room will be established to manage potential responses from all law enforcement agencies, ensuring effective communication and timely action.
