ISLAMABAD:

Two more children, a boy and a girl, were crippled by poliovirus in Sindh and Balochistan. The latest poliovirus cases take the tally to 8 in the country during the ongoing year.

The affected children include two-year-old boy, a resident of Qilla Abdullah, and three-year-old girl, a resident of Kemari, Karachi. They were tested for poliovirus after symptoms of paralysis appeared on May 22 and June 3. The samples returned positive for YB3A poliovirus cluster.

Aisha Raza Faraooq, the PM’s focal person, said the poliovirus cases are being reported frequently in the country, representing a threat to children.
