Police access to NADRA data discussed

Fingerprint matching to quickly identify suspects sought

The Punjab Police has sought better access to data, especially for using fingerprints from the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) to speedily identify suspected criminals.

In this regard, a meeting was held between NADRA Chairman Lieutenant General Muhammad Munir Afsar and Inspector General of Police Usman Anwar.

Discussions were held during the meeting to enhance the strategic partnership, data information sharing and mutual cooperation in cyber security and other professional affairs.

The provincial police chief pleaded for easy access to the data for speedy action. He said NADRA's data sharing in identification of criminals and terrorist elements, verification of citizens, and policing issues was highly commendable.

The NADRA chairman indicated expansion of cooperation with Punjab Police in eradication of crimes and identification of miscreants and criminals.

The IGP said the Smart Safe Cities and Police Stations projects were moving towards completion and the entire province was being converted into a safe city.

The NADRA chairman visited the Police Martyrs' Memorial and paid tribute to the sacrifices of the Punjab Police martyrs.
