Indian cricket team captain Rohit Sharma surpassed Pakistan's Babar Azam another record to become the highest run-scorer in T20 Internationals, amassing 4,222 runs in 150 innings compared to Babar's 4,145 runs in 116 innings.
The record came following India's triumph over England by 68 runs in the T20 World Cup 2024 semi-final, securing a spot in the final game against South Africa in Barbados on Saturday.
Previously, Sharma surpassed Babar's 48 wins, extending India's second-longest winning streak in T20Is to 11 matches.
Under Sharma's leadership, India achieved their 49th win in T20Is, making Sharma the most successful captain in this format and setting a new world record.
The semi-final saw India deliver a commanding performance. The batting lineup, spearheaded by Sharma, set a formidable target for England. The bowlers then executed a well-strategized plan, with standout performances that dismantled the English batting order, securing India's spot in the final.
