Grenade attack targets tribal leader's residence in Lakki Marwat

Haji Aslam Khan remains unhurt as the blast partially damages the gate but fortunately causes no casualties

LAKKI MARWAT:

A grenade attack targeted the residence of Aslam Khan, the leader of the Marwat Qaumi Jirga, in the Lakki Marwat district of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, police said on Thursday.

According to police, unidentified assailants threw a grenade at the hujra of the senior local leader and chief of the Marwat Qaumi Jirga, Haji Aslam Khan. The blast partially damaged the gate but fortunately caused no casualties.

Police noted that Aslam Khan had previously survived a suicide attack, and two leaders of the Marwat Qaumi Jirga had been killed by terrorists' gunfire.

Authorities have begun collecting evidence from the scene and assured that efforts are underway to apprehend the perpetrators.

Yesterday, the PTI passed a resolution in the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa tribal jirga against the anti-terror initiative ‘Azm-e-Istehkam’ and for the release of its founding chairman Imran Khan.

According to details, the K-P’s ruling party organised a tribal jirga in connection with ‘Azm-e-Istehkam’ that was attended by leaders and dignitaries from the tribes of the province.

The central and provincial leadership of the PTI also participated in the jirga.
