Sanghar,'s amputated camel, Cammie, on path to recovery after receiving artificial leg

Cammie, the camel from Sanghar who had her leg amputated earlier this month, is set to stand for the first time after receiving an artificial leg.

The camel, named Cammie, was brought to Karachi for treatment after the incident, allegedly carried out by a landlord and his people.

The camel is under the care of CDRS Benji, a local non-governmental organisation (NGO) in Karachi.

Sarah Jahangir, Director of the CDRS Benji Project for Animal Welfare, had earlier stated that Cammie would receive an artificial leg once her injury healed.

Significant progress has already been made in her treatment.

Bioniks Pakistan, a prosthetics manufacturing company, built a support structure with a harness to help the camel stand.

"We will try to get Cammie to stand up with the help of the structure by this evening," the team announced on Thursday.

The NGO thanked the Department of Livestock and Bioniks Pakistan for their support in treating the camel.

Six suspects, accused of amputating the camel's leg on June 14 in the Mundh Jamrao area, are currently in custody with their trial underway at a local court.
