Central Afghanistan floods leave 7 dead and 10 missing

The disaster struck Yakawlang district on Tuesday, causing extensive damage to homes and agricultural lands.

Heavy rains and flash floods claimed seven lives and 10 more went missing in central Afghanistan's Bamiyan province on Tuesday, provincial government spokesman Abdul Sabour Sighani said late Wednesday.

The natural disaster swept parts of Yakawlang district late Tuesday, the official said, adding efforts were underway to recover victims' bodies or survivors.

The floods also washed away dozens of houses and agricultural lands, the official said.

Similarly, flash floods destroyed 40 houses and more than 300 acres of farmlands in Yamgan district of the northern Badakhshan province on Tuesday.
