TORONTO:

A viral video circulating on Instagram shows long queues of job seekers outside a Tim Hortons outlet in Toronto, highlighting the challenges faced by desi and other international students for securing jobs in Canada.

The video was shared by an Indian student Nishat, who has been searching for a part-time job for over a month.

He revealed arriving 30 minutes before a job fair at Tim Hortons, only to find more than 100 students already lined up.

Nishat noted the surprise of local residents at the scene. "Even the locals were shocked by the long queue, wondering what was happening," he said.

Tim Hortons staff collected resumes and informed applicants they would receive interview calls later.

Nishat's struggle did not end there; he traveled to another part of the city to apply at a different store. The video has sparked conversations about the job crisis and rising unemployment in Canada.

Many international students shared their own experiences of difficulty finding part-time work. One user commented, "Due to overcrowding, it is almost impossible to find a job for survival." Another suggested learning trades like construction or truck driving, which are in demand in Canada.

Another user reflected on the changing job market, stating, "This is not the Canada I came to eight years ago. It was full of opportunities and growth. I found a part-time job in 2 weeks while studying and the stories I hear now break my heart. To all the future students that are planning to come here please don't be fooled, do your research and then make a decision.''
