Sri Lankan performers set stage on fire
Sri Lankan performers set the stage on fire at the Arts Council of Pakistan(ACP), Karachi, rendering the traditional Kanya dances which literally mean poetry in motion.
ACP and Sri Lankan Consulate collaborated to organise the traditional dance and music event. ACP President Muhammad Ahmed Shah said that Sri Lankan artistes brought pride to their country.
Sri Lankan Consul General Jagath Abeywarna announced plans for more programmes in Karachi soon. The troupes head Chandana Wickramasinghe said he felt proud to present Sri Lankan culture and congratulated all the artists for their excellent performances.
In the programme, Sri Lankan artistes delivered outstanding performances of traditional and contemporary dances. Chandana Wickramasinghe Dancers Guild showcased remarkable dances and performed drums on Thammattam, which was highly appreciated by the audience.
Sri Lankan singer Sonal Prabhashitha received great applause for singing the Pakistani songs Pasoori and Kana Yari. In contrast, singer Mahesha Sundamali captivated the audience with her renditions of Chaudhvin Ka Chand Ho Ya Aftab Ho and Lag Ja Gale.
The unique style of singer Wikee’s singing also drew significant attention from the audience.
