Punjab road crashes claim 19 lives

73% of accidents involved motorcyclists

At least 19 people died, whereas 1,224 were injured in 1,116 Road Traffic Crashes (RTCs) across Punjab during the last 24 hours.

Out of these, 579 people with serious injuries were shifted to different hospitals, while 645 victims with minor injuries were treated at the incident site by Rescue Medical Teams. The majority (73%) involved motorbikes.

Furthermore, the analysis showed those 620 drivers, 33 underage drivers, 144 pedestrians, and 479 passengers were among the victims of road traffic crashes.

The statistics showed that 216 RTCs were reported in Lahore which affected 239 persons placing the provincial capital at the top of the list followed by Multan 78 in with 80 victims and at third Faisalabad with 65 RTCs and 77 victims.

A 28-year-old man died in a road accident at Lahore Ring Road near Askari 10 area on Wednesday. Reportedly, the victim was travelling in a car and when he reached near Askari-10 a speeding vehicle hit him. As a result, the victim lost control of the vehicle and hit the footpath. He suffered injuries and died on the spot.

The details further reveal that 1,243 victims were affected by road traffic crashes including 978 males and 265 females, while the age group of the victims shows that 219 were under 18 years of age, 673 were between 18 and 40 years.
