Twelve candidates have entered the fray for the July 11 by-elections of the K-P Assembly’s PK-22 Bajaur constituency, preparations for which have been completed.
In this regard, a meeting was held under the chairmanship of Provincial Election Commissioner Shamshad Khan in which Elections Director Asif Ali Yasin, IT Director Abdul Qadir, Deputy Director Falak Naz, Deputy Director Muhammad Anwar Zaib, Deputy Director Asif Khan Khattak, Deputy Director Zaheer Ahmed Sohithu, Spokesman for the Provincial Election Commissioner Sohail Ahmed, and other officers participated.
The Provincial Election Commissioner was given a detailed briefing on the preparations during which it was revealed that in the province’s PK-22 Bajaur constituency, Rahatullah from the Sunni Unity Council, Saddam Hussain from the Muttahida Qaumi Movement, Abid Khan from the Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan, Abdullah from the PPP Parliamentarians, Muhammad Nisar from the Awami National Party, and seven independent candidates were contesting.
Training for the district returning officers, returning officers, district monitoring officers and monitoring officers has already been completed.
Training for the polling staff will be conducted from July 1 to 7.
A total of over 179,000 voters will exercise their right to vote in the by-polls. The number of male voters in the constituency stands at 99,038 while the number of female voters is 79,972.
Adequate arrangements have been made for security.
