Afghanistan's cricket team captain Rashid Khan responding to Australia's exit from the T20 World Cup 2024 semi-final said "I can sleep better now" as he expressed his immense happiness following the win over Bangladesh.

Rashid recalled Glenn Maxwell's unforgettable century that had defeated Afghanistan in the 2023 50-over World Cup in India.

He added Maxwell's incredible performance and Afghanistan’s defeat kept him awake all night. Rashid contrasted this with the present, saying he expects to lose sleep tonight due to overwhelming happiness, shared by the entire team and their nation.

The Afghanistan captain emphasised that cricket serves as a crucial source of joy back home.

He expressed gratitude for the opportunity to bring happiness to their people through cricket, underscoring how fortunate they feel to be able to achieve this.
