A keyboard critic of Sabrina Carpenter's recent single, "Please Please Please," quickly realized their negative comment about the song didn't hold up well over time.

Following the success of her next hit, which reached the top spot on the Billboard Hot 100 chart on Monday, June 24, the singer responded to the online critic by sharing screenshots of the chart rankings alongside their comments.

“I don’t think I've ever seen someone fumble a second single this hard. my goodness,” read the critique, posted on X (formerly Twitter) in early June.

Carpenter, aged 25, responded with the screenshots and a light-hearted message: “ohhhh 😭😭😭 I’m a grateful grateful grateful girl.”

"Please Please Please" marks Carpenter's first No. 1 in her career spanning a decade. Her breakout hit "Espresso" reached No. 4 on this week's Hot 100 and peaked at No. 3 earlier this month.

Contributing to the success of "Please Please Please" was its music video, featuring Carpenter's actual boyfriend, the Saltburn star Barry Keoghan.

The infectious song, produced by Jack Antonoff, known for his collaborations with Taylor Swift, also soared to the top fueled by celebrity endorsements.

On June 24th, Carpenter shared the screenshots on Instagram along with a detailed caption where she expressed gratitude to Jack Antonoff for his production, Amy Allen for co-writing, and Laura Sisk for engineering the track.

“MY FIRST #1 on the @billboard HOT 100!!!!!!! And espresso at #4.. I’m very immensely grateful so i will surely always remember this day for the rest of my life!” she wrote.

“@jackantonoff @amyallen i deeply love this song and i love you both!!!!! I love our pitchy claps!!!!! I love @sharp_stick !!!! good things come in three’s 🥲.”

“thank you everyone who’s listened and made it so much fun to have these songs out in the world. more to come soon 💋💋,” she concluded.
