JARANWALA:

A young man opened fire in a fit of rage and killed his three friends over a trivial matter.

The suspect fled from the scene after the murders.

The incident took place in the Bahimaniwala area, where Asif alias Atif opened fire on his friends Ghuffran Ali, 23, Muhammad Siddiq, 45, and Zubair Shabbir, 22, over a minor matter.

Ghuffran succumbed to his injuries on the spot, while Siddiq and Zubair were shifted to the Khurianwala Hospital, where they died.

After the news of the three deaths spread, the heirs of the deceased, along with local villagers, placed the bodies at Adda Chowk and protested.

The protesters blocked the road and set tyres on fire, chanting slogans against the police for not arresting the murderer. The protest continued for several hours.

The RPO asked the city police officer for a report on the incident. Senior police officers also reached the spot. The protesters dispersed after being assured that the suspect would be arrested soon. The main highway was blocked due to the protest, causing long queues of vehicles and difficulties for passengers traveling to and from Lahore.

The police shifted the bodies to the hospital for postmortem and formed teams to arrest the murderer.
