ANKARA:

China "expelled" Japanese fishing boats and patrol vessels from disputed waters during last four days, state-run media said on Monday.

The China Coast Guard (CCG) expelled four fishing boats and several patrol vessels from Japan that "illegally" entered China's territorial waters off the Diaoyu Islands from June 20 to 24, Global Times reported.

A spokesperson for the CCG urged Japan to immediately stop "all illegal activities" and ensure that similar incidents do not happen again.

The Diaoyu Islands are known as the Senkaku Islands in Japan. The islands have long been a source of contention for both nations.
