Robbery gang that bought weapons through Facebook arrested in Karachi
A gang of robbers, that used Facebook to procure weapons from Dera Adam Khel, has been arrested in Karachi.
Sindh police, along with paramilitary forces, acting on intelligence, conducted a joint operation in Jannat Gul Town of Karachi’s Sohrab Goth area, apprehending three suspects, Jan Agha, Umeed Gul alias Laghmani, and Abdul Rehman.
During initial investigations, Jan Agha revealed that he had frequently procured weapons via Facebook for the gang's criminal activities.
Agha, identified as the gang leader, operated the group and admitted to fleeing and hiding in Iran to evade arrest, only to return and resume criminal activities in Pakistan.
According to the Sindh police spokesperson, the arrested suspects were involved in over 300 street crimes across various neighbourhoods of Karachi.
They confessed to injuring more than three civilians by gunfire during these robberies.
Jan Agha and his accomplices were previously arrested for multiple robbery incidents, according to security sources.
Raids are ongoing to capture other members of the gang.
The arrested suspects, along with the recovered arms and ammunition, were remanded into police custody for further legal action.
