ISLAMABAD:

A petition has been filed in the Supreme Court (SC) seeking an early hearing of the case related to the trial of civilians in military courts accused of involvement in the May 9 attacks.

The petition, submitted by Advocate Latif Khosa, requests that the case be scheduled for the week starting July 1.

Earlier, the apex court suspended its prior decision to invalidate military trials for 103 civilians till a final judgment on the matter until the third week of January 2024.

The petition argues that, despite a court order, the case has not yet been scheduled for a hearing. It points out that the verdicts in cases involving detainees in military courts are on hold due to pending SC proceedings, and the case has remained unheard since December 13.
