Kiara Advani, one of Bollywood’s most beloved stars, recently sat down with Filmfare for an insightful and heartfelt exchange. From childhood dreams to personal quirks, the actor revealed aspects of her life that fans rarely get to see. As she continues to capture hearts on screen, this candid conversation offers a glimpse into the woman behind the stardom.

On the way

From a young age, Kiara harbored aspirations of becoming a performer. “I always wanted to be an actress,” she confessed. This dream, which many children harbor at some point, became her driving force. Unlike many, Kiara followed through with her ambitions, navigating the challenging world of Bollywood to emerge triumphant and make good on her dream.

Despite her success, Kiara’s path was not without its detours and lessons. Recalling her college days, she shared an anecdote that paints her as relatable and grounded. “The only time I was called out was when I was on the blacklist for bunking college and my mother was so disappointed in me. There are a few things she always expected from us, but everyone bunks in college and I was no extraordinary student. I was just like anyone else just wanting to have fun and go to movies, so I was on the blacklist for that,” she explained.

This episode, while minor in the grand scheme of things, revealed a universal truth about youthful indiscretion and the importance of learning from one’s mistakes. Despite the disappointment it caused her mother, it is a reminder that even those who achieve great things have had their moments of rebellion and growth.

Constants

When it comes to her all-time favorite meal, Kiara did not shy away from simplicity. “Dosa,” she stated, showing that sometimes, comfort food trumps all gourmet options. Her love for the South Indian delicacy spoke to her appreciation for traditional flavours and the simple pleasures of life.

In today’s digital age, it’s no surprise that Kiara’s indispensable gadget is her phone. Like many of her fans, she finds it essential to stay connected and manage her busy life. This admission highlighted her relatability in an era where smartphones are integral to both personal and professional spheres.

For Kiara, love is synonymous with happiness. When asked what love meant to her, the star succinctly replied, “Happiness.” This brief yet profound statement underscored her belief in love’s power to bring joy and fulfillment, a sentiment that resonates with many.

Looking back

Kiara’s fashion sense is often the talk of the town, and she has had numerous memorable red carpet moments. One look that stood out for her was from 2021 when she won the award for The Times Power Women Actor of the Year. “I wore a red pantsuit. It has to be one of my all-time favourite pantsuit looks,” she reminisced. This choice reflects her bold and confident style, marking her as a fashion icon who isn’t afraid to take risks and make statements.

Despite her composed demeanor, Kiara has her own set of fears and irritations. Talking about what she is “petrified” of, she revealed, “Birds. I have a major bird phobia. I don’t know what it is, but I just feel like they’ll fly into my face.”

Up close

When it comes to family, Kiara shares a common irritation that many can relate to: being questioned by her parents after a long day at work. “Whenever I come home after work and they ask what did you do? How did you do it? When they just ask all these questions, I want to tell them please don’t ask me anything right now, I don’t want to answer anything. I just want to go to my room and go to sleep. To their credit now they’ve learnt to let me just be. Now we’re learning the art of ‘ask me the next day,’” she shared.

Family plays a significant role in Kiara’s life, and she has many fond memories with her brother. “I love our impromptu Sunday brunches and there is this place in Mumbai the Cross Maidan Ground, we love to go there, light a candle, and pray,” she shared.

Asked about her all-time favorite film, Kiara made a surprising choice: “I’ll pick my own, Kabir Singh.” This film, which was both critically acclaimed and a commercial success, seems to hold a special place in her heart. Choosing her own work as her favorite underscored her pride in her achievements and the personal significance of the roles she has portrayed.

Looking ahead, Kiara remains focused on her craft and committed to her audience. She continues to challenge herself with diverse roles and projects, aiming to leave a lasting impact on the industry. Her journey is far from over, and her fans eagerly await the next chapter in her illustrious career.
