One more cop dies of heat stroke on duty

HYDERABAD:

One more tragic casualty due to severe heatwave reported in Hyderabad, where a police officer collapsed and passed away while on duty at Bhittai Nagar police station.

The deceased police officer, Abdul Rasool Junejo, who tragically fainted during his duty at a checkpoint on Jamshoro Road, was rushed to Civil Hospital Hyderabad, where doctors pronounced him dead.

Medical experts attribute his death to heatstroke and dehydration, common risks during such extreme weather conditions.

This incident follows the deaths of two other police officers last month due to heat-related causes.

The relentless heat, exacerbated by electricity load shedding, has plunged the city into a severe water crisis, impacting the daily life of its residents.

Reportedly, the temperature soared to a scorching 42 degrees Celsius on Saturday, marking a three-degree increase from the previous day.

The intense heat, coupled with high humidity levels, forced citizens to remain indoors, leaving streets and market deserted.

Meanwhile, the demand for ice and yogurt as well as cold drinks has surged, but shortages were reported in the market.
