Jennifer Lawrence to star in Real Housewives inspired murder mystery
Jennifer Lawrence is set to star in "The Wives," a murder mystery film with a hefty dose of drama reminiscent of "The Real Housewives" series.
In the movie, Lawrence's character will engage in feuds, day-drinking, and enjoy substantial disposable income, until the discovery of a body changes everything.
Apple Original Films has acquired the project in a competitive deal. Lawrence will produce the film through her company, Excellent Cadaver, along with Justine Ciarrocchi. Jeremy O. Harris and Josh Godfrey, from the production company bb2, will also serve as producers.
Although the film is still in development, details about the plot and shooting schedule have not been disclosed yet.
Michael Breslin and Patrick Foley, known for their work on the Pulitzer Prize finalist play "Circle Jerk," will pen the script for "The Wives." The film is a collaboration between Apple Studios and A24, who previously partnered on the 2022 drama "Causeway," featuring Jennifer Lawrence.
The partnership between the two companies extends to Spike Lee's forthcoming remake of the Akira Kurosawa film titled "High and Low," starring Denzel Washington.
Their past collaborations include projects like Morgan Neville's documentary "Steve! (Martin) a documentary in 2 pieces," and "The Tragedy of Macbeth," directed by Joel Coen and featuring Washington and Frances McDormand in leading roles.
