Geena Davis recently joked about being responsible for Brad Pitt's career-defining role in the 1991 film Thelma & Louise. In an interview with Entertainment Tonight at the Bentonville Film Festival, Davis recounted how she was "so distracted" by Pitt's charisma during their audition that she fumbled her lines.

Pitt was one of four actors vying for the role of J.D., alongside George Clooney, Mark Ruffalo, and Grant Show. Davis admitted she was so taken with Pitt's charm that she couldn't focus on her own performance.

"Brad earned the part – obviously," Davis said. "But I was so dazzled by him during our reading that I messed up my lines. It was clear he had something special."

Davis's playful claim echoes her comments during a 2022 appearance on The Graham Norton Show, where she recalled asking producers for their opinion on who should get the role and enthusiastically advocating for "the blonde one."

In addition to her humorous anecdote about Pitt, Davis also spoke fondly of her co-star Susan Sarandon, describing her as her "ride or die." She shared a heartwarming story about their first meeting, during which Sarandon's confidence and assertiveness made a lasting impression on her.

Thelma & Louise proved to be a turning point in Pitt's career, catapulting him to stardom. He went on to appear in numerous blockbuster films and earned critical acclaim, including an Oscar for his role in Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood.
