A doctor and staff of a private drug rehabilitation centre have been booked for alleged torture and murder of a patient within the limits of Wah Saddar police station.

According to sources, the patient died mysteriously at a private drug rehabilitation centre in Wah Saddar. Following the incident, the family members accused the doctor and staff of the drug rehabilitation centre for torturing the patient during treatment. The police registered a case against Dr Farhan, the head of the drug rehabilitation centre, and other staff members working under him.

According to the details, the victim’s father-in-law, Tanveer Ahmed, had admitted him to Farhan Rehabilitation Centre, Model Town for treatment on June 14. On the fifth day, Dr Farhan called him and told him that the patient’s health had deteriorated and that he had been taken to Wah General Hospital.

When the complainant reached the hospital, the victim, Muhammad Yusuf was lying dead and marks of violence were visible on his body. Apparently, the staff of the centre had brought Yusuf’s body, which was marked with cuts and bruises, to the hospital and then ran off.

The police shifted the body to Taxila Tehsil Headquarters Hospital for post-mortem and registered a case. The post-mortem revealed that the patient had been severely beaten with sticks and rods.
