Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) central leader Liaquat Baloch on Wednesday held telephonic conversations with several key political leaders, including Mahmood Khan Achakzai, head of an anti-government alliance, PTI leader Asad Qaiser, and JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman.
According to a statement issued by the party, Baloch discussed the current political situation with Achakzai and Qaiser, stating that the JI will continue its struggle for the protection and supremacy of the Constitution. He said any opposition party could start a protest against alleged rigging in the February 8 general elections.
Baloch also called JUI-F’s Fazl and expressed condolences over the assassination of JUI-F North Waziristan leader Maulana Jan Mirza. Fazl noted that no one’s life, property, or honor is safe in the country while the government’s writ is nowhere to be seen in North Waziristan and the merged districts of the former Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata).
Palestinian leader Dr Khaled Qaddoumi also called Liaqat Baloch. The JI leader condemned Israel’s brutal bombing of Gaza even during the Eid days.
