The security forces have rejected the Indian media’s “false propaganda” about the killing of Brigadier (retd) Amir Hamza, stating that the “concocted and misleading” stories had no relevance with the ground realities leading to the attack on the retired army officer.

“Linking it with his association with an intelligence agency and his involvement in an operation in IIOJK is absolutely absurd and devoid of truth.”

Brig (retd) Hamza was assassinated by unknown assailants two days ago while he was travelling with his wife and daughter near Lilla Interchange, District Jhelum. The former army officer succumbed to injuries and died on the spot while his wife and daughters sustained injuries and were hospitalised. They were stated to be in a stable condition.

An Indian media report claimed on Wednesday that Brig (retd) Hamza was a key ISI operative, who Indian counter-terror agencies believed was among the brains behind the 2018 attack on the Sunjwan army camp in the IIOJK which left six soldiers killed and over a dozen injured.

The security forces maintained that during his entire military career, Brig (retd) Hamza never served in any intelligence set up. After his retirement in 2016, the officer was employed in Rescue 1122. Following the completion of this stint in 2018, the late army officer remained employed in DHA Lahore till 2021.

According to the security forces, the propaganda involving concocted and misleading stories appearing in the Indian media had no relevance with ground facts and circumstances leading to the assassination of Brig (retd) Hamza.

They noted that linking Brig (retd) Hamza with a concocted operation in IIOJK as part of intelligence agencies reflected traditional and vicious propaganda campaign aimed at mitigating effects of embarrassment caused due to overwhelming setback to Modi regime and its stooge media in recently held elections.
