The Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Pakistan Chairman Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui in a message issued on occasion of anniversary of workers killed in the operation of June 19, 1992 said that MQM workers who faced the worst state repression in the history of politics deserve to be saluted.
Siddiqui said that the cruelty and brutality metted out the MQM members during the 1992 operation was rare in the political history of the sub-continent.
He said that the sanctity of women, the privacy of homes, human rights everything was put aside in the operation against a political party that was fighting for legitimate rights.
The treatment meted out to heirs of the people who materialised the establishment of Pakistan cannot be forgotten at any cost. Men were brutally killed in front of their mothers and sisters. There only crime was to be an MQM worker.
Siddiqui said that MQM has the sole honour of facing all oppression and conspiracies with patience and persistence, but never speaking out against the state institutions, the country and the state. MQM, throughout its existence, not only kept alive its politics against the feudal system in Pakistan, but the love of the country too. It closed all the paths leading to the instability in Pakistan.
He further said that death and extrajudicial killing of thousands of innocent workers and sympathizers is no less than a tragedy. It is a shame that in so many years no judge has tried to provide justice to the victims by forming a commission. He further said that due to the sacrifice of the workers, today MQM-P is huge tree with deep roots and wide shade and is struggling for the rights of the people of Pakistan.
