Imran, Qureshi ‘denied’ Eid prayers
PTI founding chairman Imran Khan had extended Eidul Azha greetings to the nation from Adiala Jail, where party leaders were reportedly barred from participating in Eid prayers.
Meher Bano Qureshi, daughter of former foreign minister and senior PTI leader Shah Mahmood Qureshi, revealed that both her father and Imran Khan were not permitted to offer Eid prayers by the jail administration.
In her Eid greeting posted on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Meher Bano mentioned her meeting with her father in Adiala Jail on Eid.
“Both Shah Mahmood Qureshi and Imran Khan were denied permission to offer Eid prayers. Many PTI leaders and workers are in jail for crimes not committed. Many are in hiding and away from their families. On this Eid, we salute their sacrifices and pray these sacrifices help usher in justice and democracy in Pakistan,” she stated.
In a social media post shared on his official X account, Imran Khan extended Eid greetings to the nation, stating, “Eid Mubarak to my nation. Eidul Azha marks the embracing of the spirit of sacrifice exemplified by the Prophet Ibrahim AS. Unfortunately, the worship of the ego and nafs e ammara by a few individuals has led to the degradation of every institution and the moral decay of our society.”
The party’s founding chairman also commented on the recent defeat of the Pakistani cricket team in the T20 World Cup, strongly criticising Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman and Federal Minister Mohsin Naqvi.
“The plight of Pakistani cricket illustrates how the ego of an individual and consequent nepotism have already pushed Pakistan to the brink of disaster. Mohsin Naqvi is not only regarded as a son by Asif Zardari, also known Mr 10%, but he also has a family relationship with COAS Asim Munir.
