Police constable booked for looting citizen

A volunteer and constable at the Tariq Abad checkpost were caught on video stealing Rs11,000 from a citizen's pocket on the night before Eid.

The incident gained widespread attention on social media, prompting police officers to take swift action against them.

Sub-inspector Waqas Ashraf, posted at Peoples Colony police station, filed a case. It was stated that, Constable Mushtaq Ahmad was stationed at the Tariq Abad checkpost, along with a volunteer, Pasha, in a police uniform.

They stopped a citizen under the pretext of a search and stole Rs11,000 from his pocket. However, the citizen managed to record a video of the incident, which went viral on social media. Police officers, suspending the constable, registered a case against them.

Meanwhile, a series of grim discoveries were made as four bodies were found in different areas. On the second day of Eid, a 35-year-old unidentified man’s body was found sitting in the park in the Saddar Bazar Mujadadi Park area of Ghulam Muhammadabad police station.

The body had lain for several hours despite citizen’s calls to the police, who arrived four hours late. Meanwhile, two unknown individuals, estimated to be around 40 and 50-years-old, were found on Sattiana Road and Jaranwala Road in the Saddar police station area.

The police took possession of the bodies and shifted them to Allied Hospital for post-mortem and started searching for their relatives.

Additionally, the body of 55-year-old Anwar was discovered near the Gatwala area of Madina Town, with the police launching an investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death.
