CM orders civic bodies to keep city clean on Eidul Azha

99 collection points have been established in the city's 246 union committees.

KARACHI:

Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has directed the local bodies, Sindh Solid Waste Management Board (SSWMB), and other relevant authorities to ensure that Karachi is kept clean during Eidul Azha. He also stressed the importance of cleaning the stormwater drains before the onset of the monsoon season.

SSWM MD Imtiaz Shah, while briefing the chief minister, said that on Eidul Azha last year, approximately 113,000 tons of waste and municipal solid waste were generated in Karachi, which was immediately disposed of at landfill sites on.

The CM was informed, there is a possibility that 96,782 tons of entrails or 154,482 tons of offal and waste will be generated in Karachi this year. For this purpose, 99 collection points have been established in the city's 246 union committees.
