Charles Barkley, former NBA player and a multiple Emmy winner, made the announcement after Game 4 of the NBA Finals, hinting at the possibility of his departure last month when rumors about TNT losing NBA rights surfaced.

He expressed his gratitude towards the NBA family and mentioned passing the baton to Jamal Crawford, Vince Carter, or Steve Smith.

Barkley's retirement comes at a time of uncertainty for TNT, with speculation rife that NBC might take over the NBA broadcast rights.

The Hall of Famer had previously voiced concerns about potential job losses at the network if the deal went through.

Game 4 of the 2024 NBA Finals saw the Dallas Mavericks secure a win against the Boston Celtics, who still lead the series 3-1.
