The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) issued a weather alert to the administration in Punjab, predicting rainfall from June 20 to June 22.
According to the PDMA spokesperson, the province will experience hot and dry weather from June 16 to June 18. However, there are chances of thunderstorms and rain in most districts from June 18 to 22, particularly in the southern part of Punjab.
Three days earlier, PDMA also forecasted the first spell of monsoon rain to hit southern Sindh, including Karachi.
Director General PDMA, Irfan Ali, advised the administration to stay alert and urged citizens to consider weather conditions while preparing for Eid-ul-Adha. He also recommended staying updated on weather forecasts if planning to travel during the holidays.
Earlier this month, the Water and Sanitation Agency (Wasa) expressed dissatisfaction with the performance of its drainage directorate.
The Sindh Human Rights Commission (SHRC) also organized a panel discussion last week where speakers emphasised the urgent need for precautionary measures ahead of the upcoming monsoon season.
