FIA nabs man for harassing doctor

Sources say suspect also blackmailed victim to extort money

The Federal Investigation Agency’s (FIA) Cybercrime Circle Islamabad arrested a suspect for his alleged involvement in blackmailing and harassing a female doctor by uploading her pictures on social media and extorting money on the pretext of getting her a job in a hospital abroad.

They are also looking for his two accomplices involved in the crime.

A female doctor of Islamabad while registering a case with FIA Cyber Crime Circle said that Badar Shahzad and his two accomplices extorted 1,900 dollars from her on the pretext of getting her a job in a hospital in Maldives. After the case was registered, Additional Director FIA Cyber Crime Wing Islamabad, Waqaruddin Syed, issued inquiry orders to the Additional Director FIA Cyber Crime Wing, Ayaz Khan.

Sub-inspector Humira Salim conducted an inquiry and after the allegations were found to be true, registered a case under the provisions of the PECA Act, fraud and cheating and helping in crime against the accused Babar Shahzad and Badar Shahzad, who are brothers and residents of Attock, along with the third accomplice Usman Rashid Malik alias Osama Bashir. Babar Shahzad has been arrested.

According to the official, after receiving money from the doctor, the three accused uploaded objectionable pictures of the doctor on WhatsApp groups, harassed her and ruined her image in front of her family. The officials said that raids are being conducted to arrest the main accused Badar Shahzad and Usman Rashid Malik.
