Two men in civvies arrived in a police patrol van and looted a paan cabin in Gulshan-e-Iqbal on Thursday.
CCTV footage obtained by The Express Tribune clearly shows the police mobile stopping in front of the cabin. Two men in plain clothes disembark the vehicle; one of them jumps the counter and enters the cabin while the other stands outside.
The intruder grabs the paan cabin owner, puts him into the mobile, and threatens him with dire consequences.
The person inside the shop takes bags of Rajni and other gutkas, handing them to his accomplice outside, who loads them into the mobile van.
The cabin owner is then allowed to return inside, where he hands over money to the person outside. The two plainclothesmen with one’s face visible and the other masked, also takes cash, cigarettes, and other items.
The incident lends credence to reports of police’s involvement in criminal activities. Senior officials, including IGP, AIG, and DIG East Zone, are urged to investigate and take immediate action against those responsible.
